Selection Criteria and Procedure

The candidates who wish to attend the postgraduate study programme Language and cognitive neuroscience must meet the multilevel selection criteria. The intention is to apply strict selection criteria in order to ensure the candidates’ excellence and consequently to directly influence the quality of the study programme.

The selection will be based on the following criteria:

a) the area of a candidate’s obtained degree

b) performance in a candidate’s prior study (if the evaluation system uses the 1-5 scale, the average mark must be at least 4.0)

c) two letters of recommendation by professors

d) active knowledge of English (enabling a candidate to take part in lectures in English as one of the study’s two official languages) and passive knowledge of one more foreign language; knowledge of more languages is an asset.

e) a candidate’s scientific/research interests; an interview with a candidate

The first selection level will include a review of the submitted documents in order to single out the candidates for the interviews.

The second selection level will consist of a selective interview. The interview will be conducted by two study leaders i.e. two lecturers, and the final choice will be based on the decision of the Postgraduate Council’s Board consisting of four study leaders and three teachers from different fields.
